The A.S.I.S.T. workshop is a 2 day interactive training program that emphasizes suicide first aid. A.S.I.S.T. uses may different teaching processes to create a practice oriented and interactive learning experience.

You will learn how to:

• Recognize invitations for help
• Reach out and offer support
• Review risk of suicide
• Apply a suicide intervention model
• Link people with community resources

This program is designed for everyone, community workers, concerned family members, workers in the health field, emergency services workers etc.

This is a certificate course; attendance is required for both days.

Cost is $100.00 per person (Training is done at cost and includes all materials and certification).

All sessions run from 8:30am to 4:30pm and take place in the Queen Street Church Annex Building

Non –Violent Crisis Intervention

Crisis intervention is a small segment of time in which staff members must intervene with another person to address behavior that may escalate into disruptive or even violent incidents. The goal of staff is to intervene in a way that provides for the care, welfare, safety, and security of all who are involved in a crisis situation.

This workshop is a physically intensive two-day training program these teaches non-harmful interventions – using verbal and physical techniques.

You will need comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (running shoes) for this workshop. Those with mobility restrictions or physical concerns should contact the instructor prior to registration.
